To clarify the future competition strategy and selection of innovation of resource enterprises, this paper selects Shanghai and Shenzhen A Share listed resource companies in 2011—2014 as samples to establish a mediating role model based on competition strategy theory and technical innovation theory, which is applied to check the influence of different competition strategies on performance by means of Stata12.0 software, and to study the mechanism of technical innovation in competition strategy’s influence on performance. Performance of resource companies can be directly raised from low-cost strategy, and indirectly from mediating role of technical innovation as well, but only indirectly through mediating role of product innovation for differentiated strategy. It concludes that selection and conduction of competition strategy of resource enterprises should be combined with technical innovation, the both are of equal importance to sustainable development of resource enterprises.

Are energy resources a “fortune” or a “curse” for economic growth? This paper, based on western China's 11 provinces 2001—2011 panel data, uses State120 software to quantitatively analyze the influence of energy resources development and environmental regulations on western China's economic growth. The result shows positive, meaning energy resources are a “fortune”, rather than a “curse”. Environmental regulations turn positive after 1 year. This paper presents suggestions promoting western China's economic growth from energy resources development investment and environmental pollution treatment investment.

This paper, based on reference review, uses the theory of resource curse to explore the relation between resource abundance and economy in Inner Mongolia. The results do not show an outstanding relation, meaning that the resource curse does not happen. This paper analyzes the mechanism in resolving resource curse, and finds causes to avoid it in adjusting industrial structure, national investment, and higher marketing level, and presents suggestions to avoid resource curse in economy in western China with abundance of resources.

This paper, based on Henan’s molybdenum resource features, exploration and development situation, points out the issues in its molybdenum sector, and presents suggestion sand approaches to the sustainable development of Henan’s molybdenum sector. Henan is abundant in molybdenum resources, which are mainly concentrateing along Heigou-Luanchuan-Minggang deep fault in southern margin of north China craton. The major deposit types are of porphyry and porphyry-skarn,with less hydrothermal vein.Issues such as overinvestment, fragmented mining rights, poor mining and processing, irrational industrial structure require further resource consolidation, intensifying resource allocation, developing fine processing, controlling molybdenum supply and establishing strategic reservation system.

Resources & Industries    2008, 10 (1): 19-21.
Abstract2238)      PDF(pc) (1198KB)(1577)       Save

The western China, an important energy base for development strategy, exists a contradiction between abundant energy and frail environment, leading to a challenge in energy development. The energy development in western China, recently typified by “west gas to east” and “west electricity to east”, becomes a pillar industry in western China, so putting a pressure over eastern China’s environment, but deteriorating the western China’s. Some heavy industries like coal, power, smelt and chemical industries have been transferred to western China from eastern, promoting the economic growth on a basis of energy and investment, but rapidly consuming resources and destroying environment. This paper presents that a sustainable development of energy bases is a key point for a successful development of western China.
